#TBT: Sonic

First Impression:

Love the music playing
Definitely wouldn't mind coming back to sit on the bench, chill and eat. I don't drive so this experience is from me walking over to this establishment. At this time i was living at the hotel across the street (I was homeless at the time). Local radio station was playing. Their menu is gigantic lol. A week or so prior to going over to sonic I signed up for text alerts. I received a text about the 1/2 of burger special. I waited about 5 mins but my food was brought out to me and I was able to hand over money to pay. I don't like tomatoes and I wasn't in the mood for lettuce so these pictures show a very plain burger. I love that these burgers have flavor. Thank the heavens for salt and pepper. My burger was very good and I wish I would have purchased two. I'll have to go back to try one of these infamous slushies. I didn't purchase one that day because money was tight but I really wanted a burger.

BIRTHDAY FREEBIES 2017

This post will be updated because I haven't cashed in on all my freebies yet but here's what I've had so far...

Since I've started this birthday freebie research in 2015 Firehouse Subs hasn't changed their birthday freebie. The requirement is simple. On your birthday go to the counter and show your ID to get a free medium sub of your choice. I always get the steak/cheese with cheddar and no onions and peppers.

Another consistent freebie is from HOOTERS. Join their email list and you'll be sent an email for 10 free boneless wings for your birthday. I just ❤❤ their boneless wings.

This freebie from MyPi was also discovered in 2015. This year I received my email oddly late and I almost forgot all about this one. When you sign up for the MyPiPerks  you'll be sent an email for a free pizza pie on your birthday. You don't have to use it on your birthday but pay attention to the expiration date.

This birthday freebie is from The Greene Turtle. Another gem discovered back in 2015. Sign up for Greene Turtle rewards online. You'll receive an email during your birthday month for a free $9.99 menu item. If you get an item more than that amount you'll just pay the difference. I love being a rewards member because I earn a point for every dollar spent and once I've reached 200 points a $10 credit is added to my account. There's always a chance of other credits added when new menu items are added 🤗. This year I decided to try the Cajun pasta with blackened shrimp. OMG 😲 THIS PASTA IS SOOOO GOOD. It's penne pasta with Cajun Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, diced tomato, scallions and shaved parmesan with a toasted pretzel. You have a choice of grilled chicken or lump crab for your meat options. In the picture you will see that I only got the pasta with sauce and shrimp. I love that the pasta was fully covered in sauce which was thick but creamy. I don't like runny sauce. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. I wish that they had broccoli as an substitute option and a breadstick versus the pretzel roll but overall it's a great meal. I'm definitely ordering this again soon.

Flashback Friday: SmashBurger Buffalo & Blue Cheese Chicken Sandwich

Have you seen my first review of SmashBurger?? If not check it out

http://evonathefoodlover.blogspot.com/2017/04/smashburger-hampton-va-peninsula-town.html?m=1

This is an old review I wrote out on my phone notepad but forgot to upload....

My mouth was watering. I really enjoyed the Smashburger I ordered the last time. When i spotted a buffalo chicken sandwich on the menu with blue cheese crumbles I knew this would be my official spot. I went on a Thursday evening and it was very crowded. I did have to wait at least 10-15mins this time. When I got the sandwich I noticed that they didn't cover the chicken filet in buffalo sauce. Ugh how disappointing. The blue cheese crumbles were also missing sigh.... I let them know of the error and received some in a little cup. Although the filet wasn't covered in the buffalo sauce I still loved it. The chicken was all white meat. I noticed that it was lightly fried but didn't have a crispy/crunchy coating which was fine.

I decided to go back the next day to see if Smashburger could redeem themselves. This time while ordering I informed the cashier that I wanted my chicken covered in the buffalo sauce. I was amazed to know that option is on the register. Lol so the girl who hands the orders to the customers remembered me from yesterday and told the cooks to make sure the blue cheese crumbles were on my sandwich this time. I definitely got a kick out of that. Good customer service indeed. Be careful what you ask for because you'll get it!! My chicken was covered and boy was my tongue stinging. I loved it. The only small complaint I have is that I didn't have enough blue cheese crumbles on my sandwich. I sat outside and was to lazy to go inside and let someone know. A waitress came outside to ask if I was ok but my sandwich was pretty much gone at that point. I love that the staff is so attentive to their customers.

The next day....

Avenue Blue

Monday was my BIRTHDAY ♌♌♌👑👑
I'm 30 years old

I went out with my cousin and sister to celebrate last Saturday. I've been meaning to go and finally check this place out. I work right across the street but I guess the time was never right. The intention was to catch the Happy Hour from 4pm-8pm but we just got there at 8:00 😂.

I love that music is already playing through speakers from the outside before you walk in. The music sets the tone for what to expect. I was really surprised how big this place is inside. The band and singers were phenomenal. I was definitely on my feet a few times dancing to all the slow jams.

Of course I had to eat 😋. I ordered the chicken strips and a side of fried shrimp. Lately I've really been craving this combo. Right off when the food arrived I noticed that the chicken strips were perfectly sized. I personally don't like big clunky strips. These are perfect for dipping and eating. I believe five came with my order. The chicken was seasoned just right, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The shrimp was fresh and succulent. I wish the breading was a little more seasoned but It wasn't bland. I forgot to remind our waitress for the tarter sauce so I ate them plain. Although mimosas weren't on the menu our waitress was accomadating and was able to get me those drinks.   My cousin had the bruschetta. I had a taste of my sister's crab dip. I'm not really familiar with crab so perhaps I can't judge to much but the dip was good. The dip was served with warm house pita. I do feel like it may have been overly seasoned. I believe it was old bay seasoning that was used. I really love this spot and will be returning soon.....
