I really, really, wanted a chicken finger sub. If you haven't lived in Buffalo NY, you probably don't know what that is. It's fried chicken breast cut up into strips or left whole (usually flattened) on a sub roll. You can get the tenders naked (No sauce) or if your a true chicken finger sub eater you'd get the tenders shaken in hot sauce or even barbecue sauce along with your typical sub additions.
I was browsing on Facebook when I came across some posts from Anna's Pizza. In the post there were some meaty steak subs looking rather scrumptious. I decided that I should try this place out to see if they'd be willing to make my sub. Some restaurants won't make anything outside of their menu. My awesome cousin needed to make a food run as well so we buckled up our infants and left. This restaurant is located in a shopping plaza about five mins from where I live.
When I walked in the food smell hit my nose and made my stomach flip with joy/hunger 😊. It really smelled good. The restaurant was really full. That's a good sign especially on a Friday. When I got to the counter I was greeted immediately. I explained that what I wanted wasn't on their menu and gave the woman a description which was chicken tenders with hot sauce and provolone cheese. She asked if I wanted hot sauce or buffalo sauce. I agreed to the buffalo sauce since it's a milder but flavorful sauce. I was surprised when she said it wouldn't be a problem. AWESOMENESS!!
I was charged $10.10 and told the sub would be ready in about 15 minutes. About 10-15 minutes later I returned to get my order which was ready when I arrived. A man came to pick up food as well and headed out the door after me. I asked him if he eats at Anna's regularly. He told me that he does often and feels that they have the best pizza town. Since this is an Italian spot I have no doubt about the truth of his statement.
When I got home I fixed my son some food and dug into my sub. I could kick myself because I forgot to tell the team member to put mayo on it. I got exactly what I asked for. I added some mayo then took my first bite. It was actually really good. The tenders are white meat chicken. I say that because some places will serve rib meat chicken on a sandwich which isn't right lol. The cheese was all the way melted and the sauce had the perfect amount of heat. I also loved the soft sub roll. Next time I will remember to ask for mayo and toasted roll. Great Job Anna's Pizza. I'll be back again soon.
