Aldi : Momma Cozzi’s Pizza

I love when a supermarket food item tastes better than expected. My mother was doing the monthly grocery shopping at Aldi last month. I wanted her to get the deep dish pepperoni and cheese pizzas the comes six in a bag. I was disappointed when she called to let me know those weren’t in stock. She saw a box of two big deep dish pizzas one cheese and the other pepperoni and cheese. I told her she could get it. My mom ate the cheese pizza and let me know how good it was.

I followed the instructions on the box for preparation. I thought I left the pizza in to long at first. The edges looked hard. When I began to cut into it I was surprised that it was soft enough to eat. Definitely had a great pizza smell. The first bite had me agreeing with my mom. Very flavorful sauce with just the right amount of cheese and pepperoni. I don’t know the price of this pizza but I’m sure you can catch it at your local Aldi. Aldi alway have hidden gems. I remember this chicken, bacon and ranch wrap they used to sell years ago in one of the WNY locations. I still think of how good that was. When my mom used to eat meat we would stock up on those every time we went food shopping. Check out the pics below.

Burger King Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Check out my review of the regular crispy chicken sandwich last year:
http://evonathefoodlover.blogspot.com/2017/04/burger-king-new-crispy-chicken-sandwich.html?m=1

I had to make a pharmacy stop for my sister. I’ve been bypassing the sign for the spicy crispy chicken sandwich for a while. If you’re one of my regular blog readers then you know how I’ve really been over BK but yet I keep trying lol. I really want this restaurant to win. I keep clinging to the past and I can’t let go. Anyway, I was in the mood for this sandwich so I actually watched a YouTube review before I went in. The guy in the video did a good enough job convincing me that I should try it. I haven’t had anything to eat all day so I decided to get the small meal.

I love the bun (Believe it’s potato bread)
Tasted spicy. It’s not overbearing. Not complaining about the thinner chicken filet. It makes for an enjoyable sandwich. I had my onion rings and fruit punch Hi-C. Definitely all white meat chicken. I would buy this sandwich again. I’m happy to say this visit didn’t leave me disappointed, unlike the last few times. Good Job BK

I’m still shouting BRING BACK THE BK STACKERS!!!  I’ll never get over them

Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix

I purchased the Red Lobster biscuit mix over a month ago at Dollar General. I swear that place always have good stuff. My mom and I love Red Lobster. Of the course the biscuits are always the star of the meal. Finally I took the box down from the shelf yesterday since my mom has been waiting patiently lol. The instructions are very simple. I'm very anal about following recipes to the specific measuring tool. Since I didn't have the measuring cups needed I looked and found an awesome article for measurement conversions http://dish.allrecipes.com/commonly-used-measurements-equivalents/. With the batter I was able to make eight biscuits. The instructions say you can make ten. I didn't have the specific measuring cup so I scoped the batter with a bigger one. I didn't get a picture of them all out of the oven. I was tired from doing laundry, cleaning out my walk in closet, taking care of my son (He was cranky) and cooking ( I also made rice, chilli and cornbread) so I had to sit down and rest. My mom liked them and even my picky sister is officially apart of the Red Lobster biscuit crew. She doesn't like seafood so she doesn't come with my mom and I when we got to Red Lobster. She said and I quote " Omg I can't believe how soft they are on the inside". The only thing I would do better the next time is adding more butter for the garlic herb sauce so it can soak in biscuit more. They were soft but not as soft as they are in the restaurant. I might have over baked just a little bit so I'll also follow the exact oven time. Other than that I love the mix. I can't wait to buy it again. Of course this doesn't take away from the restaurant experience. It's about time for another visit anyway....

Domino's Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

If you live in the Buckroe area of Hampton VA I'm sure you're aware by now that we have a Domino's closer to us on Nickerson Blvd 🎉🎊. I swear it's the relief I needed. The location on King St did not deliver to my town home complex after dark. The complex was under different ownership at one point until a realty company purchased the property and remodeled. Apparently the drivers were getting robbed.

This location has been open for quite some time before having their Grand opening about a few weeks ago. I did have a small complaint about my order of Cinnamon bread twists one night. I placed a call to the restaurant the next night because I decided to place the same order again. I wanted to make someone aware so it wouldn't happen again. About five minutes later the manager calls to apologize for my experience and offered me a discount off my next order. Awesome customer service. I absolutely love when companies are attentive to their customers.

Sooooo.... this leads me to the review of a menu item I decided to try because of the discount. Normally I'll stick to pizza, cinnamon bread twists (I'm so addicted to these twists and eating some now as I type up this post ironically) and occasionally I'll add some boneless chicken (I love the Kicker hot sauce). My mom is a fan of the build your own pasta and the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich since she's a vegetarian. I decided to try the Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Love the bread. It's soft surprisingly because it looks hard at first glance.

There wasn't hardly enough meat at all. Like the meat didn't even fill up the sandwich. This should literally be a $1.  You can definitely make this yourself at home with much more meat and flavor. The sandwich includes american cheese, provolone cheese, green peppers, mushrooms and onions. I only had steak, provolone cheese and onions. On the website you can add extra steak and provolone cheese. I ate the sandwich because I didn't want to waste my money but um yea Dominos...please never ever attempt a steak sandwich again. I read reviews online after and alot of them said the same things I just complained about. I ask that you NEVER EVER get rid of the Cinnamon Bread Twists. Thanks!

Anna's Pizza in Buckroe : Good ol' Steak Sub

Check out my Initial review for Anna's Pizza in Buckroe: http://evonathefoodlover.blogspot.com/2017/09/annas-pizza-in-buckroe.html

I'm so happy to live less than 10 minutes away from this place. About a week after I posted my review I was on Facebook when I saw one of their sponsored ads. On the ad they had a variety of subs displayed and one of them happened to be a steak sub. Oh the power of advertisement lol. I wasn't in the mood to cook so I called in my order. Crazy enough I was already in the mood for a steak sub and was going to call another place that I was already familiar with. I'm so glad I took the chance. The steak was so juicy and flavorful. On my sub I'm plain jane with it. Meat, cheese, lettuce and mayo. I believe I mentioned this in my first review but I really, really love their bread. It's crusty without being hard and you can tell it's fresh. My mother is a fan of their shrimp Parmesan sub and build a pasta bowl with shrimp, penne noodles and vodka sauce. My family and I have ordered from them quite a few times since. Always great customer service.

Banquet vs Devour Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese

Check out my review for Devour Buffalo Mac and Cheese here: http://evonathefoodlover.blogspot.com/2017/06/devour-buffalo-chicken-mac-cheese.html

So I'm in Food Lion looking for meals in the frozen food section to take to work and this Banquet meal catches my eye. Now to be honest I've always bypassed the Banquet meals simply because none of them looked appealing. After having the Devour Buffalo Mac and Cheese I'm really hooked.  As I picked up this the box I was really drawn to how the meal on the box looked of restaurant quality. I also appreciated that the chicken is all white meat because I expected rib meat to appear somewhere on the box. Although I was shopping for quick meals I could take to work, I decided to try this meal at home.

Straight out the box this looks promising. I give Banquet an A+ for presentation

This is how the meal looks after being heated up.I smelled the buffalo aroma as soon as I peeled back the plastic.

This is after I stirred the Mac. So what's the verdict? I actually like this meal however I have to crown Devour as the winner. The grilled chicken is delicious and you can definitely tell it's all white meat chicken. I absolutely love the garnishment of parsley for that touch of color. The buffalo flavor wasn't overwhelming at all. The only thing that I don't like is the thin sauce consistency of the mac and cheese. I'm sure if I wanted to I could have thickened it up with some shredded cheddar cheese but I'm judging this based off of first preparation with no adjustments. I'd still purchase this meal though. Also I do want to point out that I prepared both meals in the microwave as these kind of meals were made to be essentially quick and easy. I may try via oven to see if there's a difference in taste. If I do I will edit both posts.
